What is Mimmo Engine?
Mimmo Engine is the editor to create visual novels (zero-code, AI, Seasons → Episodes → Scenes). Mimmo Player is the dedicated app to play games: it opens .mimproj and .mimdisk files, offers a disc library and fullscreen. Both are included in the Windows download.
What is Mimmo Player?
Mimmo Player is the player for Mimmo Engine games. It opens .mimproj (projects) and .mimdisk (distribution format). It has a disc library to manage your games, fullscreen, and file associations on Windows. It is included with Mimmo Engine.
What is .mimdisk?
.mimdisk is the distribution format: a single read-only file with integrity check (SHA-256). You export from Mimmo Engine to .mimdisk and share it; players open it with Mimmo Player. No installation of the game needed.
Do I need to know how to program to use it?
No, Mimmo Engine is completely zero-code. You can create complex visual novels using only drag-and-drop and visual interfaces. No programming knowledge is required.
What formats can I export?
You can export to .mimdisk for distribution. Players use Mimmo Player with a disc library, fullscreen mode, and file associations on Windows. The .mimdisk format uses SHA-256 integrity verification to protect your work.
How many languages are supported?
Mimmo Engine supports 9+ languages for automatic project translation: Italian, English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese and Russian. The interface is available in all these languages.
Can I use my own assets?
Yes, you can upload your backgrounds, sprites, audio, video and other assets. The Asset Manager supports PNG, JPG, WebP for images, MP4 for video, and MP3/WAV for audio. Assets are automatically optimized.
How much does it cost?
Mimmo Engine is free during the open beta. There are no plans or subscriptions, and every feature is included, with no limit on projects or characters.
How does AI integration work?
AI can automatically generate dialogues, analyze images to create contextual scenes, suggest narrative flows and automatically translate texts. Mimmo AI is built-in and works offline. Optional support for OpenAI, Claude, and Gemini APIs, plus Vision API for high-quality results. Also supports local models via Ollama for complete privacy.
Can I collaborate with others?
Mimmo Engine is designed for individual use. You can manually share your project files (.mimproj) with anyone; real-time collaboration is not available yet.
Are projects compatible between versions?
Yes, projects created with previous versions are compatible with newer versions. Mimmo Engine maintains backward compatibility and provides migration tools when needed.
